ROCKFORD, Ill. (WTVO) – Rockford Police officers brushed-up on a life-saving skill.
Officers received training Thursday on how to use tourniquets.
Emergency medical service professionals from Mercyhealth and the Northwest Illinois Preparedness and Response Coalition held the training.
First responders say a tourniquet could be the difference between life and death for someone suffering a serious injury.
The goal of the training is to ensure officers are prepared for mass casualty incidents.
Mercyhealth donated tourniquets to the Rockford Police Department.
