WTVO: Mercyhealth Welcomes First Baby of Rockford in 2020

ROCKFORD, Ill. (WTVO) — While many people were celebrating the arrival of the New Year, one Rockford family celebrated the arrival of the first local baby born in 2020.

Aanieya was born at Mercyhealth’s Riverside Campus just after 2 a.m. this morning, weighing six pounds, ten ounces.

Her mom, Madyson Roach, says she was not expecting her daughter to arrive in time for the New Year.

Her due date was scheduled for next Thursday.

“It’s definitely weird,” she said. “When everyone came in and said that, I was kind of shocked because it was still later in the morning, like 2 a.m. I wasn’t expecting. We did not have any babies. One other person had a baby at 11 p.m., so it was really close.”
