WIFR TV LIVE: Mercyhealth Javon Bea Goes Live at 5/6 pm to Discuss New Riverside Construction

WIFR TV/Channel 23 News — Mike Garrigan, WIFR anchor, got an exclusive sneak peek of the $505 million Mercyhealth Hospital and Trauma Center-Riverside on September 28. Everything about the new construction project is impressive and enormous with the amount of concrete you could do a five foot sidewalk from here to Madison.

“I’m from the west side of Rockford, I grew up here,” said Javon R. Bea, President and CEO of Mercyhealth. “Being part of such a massive project that’s going to help the Rockford community … it’s really beyond what words describe.”

Bea also wanted to clear up misconceptions about the project. Many say the new campus on Riverside will leave the west side of Rockford without adequate health care. “It’s actually quite the opposite,” Bea says. “We’re going to have more doctors on our Rockton Avenue Campus. In addition, we’ll have more surgical beds than we’ll have on the Riverside Campus.”

Javon R. Bea was featured on the 5, 6 and 10 pm news on WIFR TV September 28, 2017.
