Pediatric oncology is a medical specialty focused on caring for children with cancer. Children’s cancers are not always treated like adult cancers, but there are many effective treatments available. We treat patients ranging in age from newborns to young adults.
The most common types of cancer diagnosed in children are leukemias, brain and other central nervous system (CNS) tumors, and lymphomas.
We also offer programs and services for children with hematology (blood) concerns such as hemoglobin disorders, hemophilia, thrombophilia and sickle cell disease.
These diagnoses are upsetting at any age, but especially so when the patient is a child. We are here to listen to your concerns and answer your questions. We believe in supportive, family-centered care, which means we take care of your whole family and ensure you’re deeply involved in your child’s care. We emphasize family education and counseling.
