Mercyhealth has formed a comprehensive partnership with Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago, one of the top children’s hospitals in the country, to bring highly specialized pediatric services to infants and children in Rockford.
In anticipation of the opening of the$505 million Mercyhealth’s Javon Bea Hospital and Physician Clinic–Riverside in Rockford, Illinois, which opened in January 2019, Mercyhealth began collaborating with Lurie Children’s in late 2016 to expand its services. Mercyhealth serves 2.1 million patients in eleven northern Illinois counties and four southern Wisconsin counties.
What services will Lurie Children’s offer in Rockford?
The comprehensive partnership with Lurie Children’s will provide young patients who have complex and rare conditions access to advanced outpatient and inpatient services in areas including:
- Pediatric Cardiovascular Surgery
- Pediatric Plastic Surgery
- Pediatric Hematology/Oncology
- 24/7 consultative and telemedicine coverage for Pediatric Neuro-critical Care and Pediatric Emergency Medicine
- Daily consultative and telemedicine coverage for Pediatric Infectious Disease
Specialists from Mercyhealth and Lurie Children’s will work hand-in-hand to provide innovative, integrated care to neonatal and pediatric patients and their families. The partnership will continue to explore other opportunities in the future to expand pediatric services to meet the regional needs.
What does this mean for families?
This means families will have access to an expanded array of highly-trained pediatrician subspecialists, allowing them to focus on the medical needs of their children without the additional burden or expense of traveling outside of Rockford.
Together, we are bringing even more high-specialized, nationally recognized care to Rockford.
