Recommendations from an FCE might be used to determine appropriate work restrictions or suggest job modifications.
This bridges the gap between initial acute injury management and returning to work. We create an individualized program based on the client’s intake evaluation. Work hardening might include:
A progressive conditioning program based primarily on functional strengthening for clients that might not have a specific job to return to, or need to maximize their physical abilities in order to resume a productive lifestyle.
Social Security disability (SSD) and Supplemental Security Income (SSI) programs often use a disability evaluation to help determine eligibility. A disability evaluation consists of a functional capacity evaluation performed by a physical or occupational therapist. The key elements of this assessment include a comprehensive clinical evaluation and appropriate standardized testing to establish the diagnosis, characterize the severity of impairment, and communicate the patient’s abilities, restrictions, and need for accommodation.
This evaluation provides information about an individual’s physical capability to perform essential job functions. It is based upon ADA-compliant job descriptions submitted by the customer or completed by our therapists.
