Autism: Financial Resources

Mercyhealth works closely with insurance companies to help families understand how insurance benefits cover autism services. However, other autism funding opportunities are available.

Autism Support Fund

For a family with a child with an autism spectrum disorder, the cost of additional resources, classes and equipment can be staggering—even overwhelming —when a family is dealing with a new diagnosis. Recognizing the fact that many of these children do not receive the comprehensive services they need, Mercyhealth Development Foundation started its Autism Support Fund (ASF) in 2012.

The Autism Support Fund makes financial resources available to families for such medical necessities as:

  • Social skills classes
  • Sensory equipment
  • Safety equipment
  • Respite care
  • Therapeutic materials

All families in Rock and Walworth counties with children between the ages of 2 and 21 with an autism spectrum disorder are eligible for autism funding and encouraged to contact us for more information. You do not need to be a Mercyhealth Behavioral Health Services client or have a Mercyhealth doctor as your primary health care provider to qualify. Recipients must be diagnosed with a disorder on the autism spectrum by a licensed psychologist or behavioral health professional who has completed a comprehensive evaluation.
