Aquatic Therapy

If you have mobility, pain, or weight-bearing limitations, aquatic therapy can be an effective part of your rehabilitation. It’s also know as aqua therapy, swim therapy, or hydrotherapy and is available to patient of all ages.

The benefits of aquatic therapy include:

  • Decreased pain
  • Increased functional mobility
  • Improved posture, balance, and coordination
  • Increased strength and endurance
  • Improved range of motion
  • Relaxation

Aquatic therapy also eliminates the demands that gravity places on your body to relive stress on muscle and bones allowing individuals to move with less pain. Unlike recreation pools, our therapeutic pools maintain temperatures above 88 degrees to promote a relaxed and healing environment.  The various depths of our therapy pools allow for treatment plans to be individualized based on our patient’s needs.  Our pools are also equipped with a lift, allowing access to all individuals.

We offer aquatic therapy at two locations:

Mercyhealth Sports Medicine and Rehabilitation Center–East in Janesville offers therapy for adults and youth recovering from:

  • Sprains and strains
  • Fractures
