SaukValley.Com: Sauk Valley Community College to Offer EMT Training Through Mercyhealth
DIXON – Emergency medical technician training soon will be available at Sauk Valley Community College.
Sauk plans to offer the new basic training course in the fall to train police, fire, rescue personnel and others wanting to learn the techniques of pre-hospital emergency care.
Students will gain the knowledge and skills to provide basic emergency medical assistance, including patient assessment, airway management, splinting, and other emergency interventions.
The curriculum, developed by the U.S. Department of Transportation, prepares students for the national and state certification examinations. The program is in collaboration with Mercyhealth, and classes begin Aug. 19.
