ROCKFORD — Mercyhealth REACT presented its new Airbus EC145 helicopter, which replaces the Airbus EC135, on Friday during a news conference held at the REACT hangar on Glenwood Avenue.
The Airbus EC145 supports a wider variety of missions and will deliver specialized care to women and children because of it’s larger cabin
“It will not only allow us to fly farther and faster, but it will allow us to continue to provide comprehensive specialty care treatment during the transfer of our high-risk obstetric population, our critically ill or injured children and the smallest babies of our neonatal intensive care unit,” said Dr. John Pakiela, Mercyhealth REACT Medical Director.
The helicopter is equipped with critical care supplies, such as emergency medications, oxygen, heart monitor/defibrillator, ventilators and other equipment similar to a hospital emergency room or intensive care unit.
