I continue to be amazed at the Rockford area’s growth as a regional health care destination. All three of our hospital-based care systems are expanding and adding services.
Crusader Community Health is expanding, too, and the University of Illinois College of Medicine Rockford continues to provide a strong foundation to train tomorrow’s health care professionals.
I have that on my mind because on Tuesday I joined other members of the Editorial Board and toured the new, $505 million, 563,000-square-foot, Javon Bea Hospital and Physician Clinic — Riverside. It had only been operating for about two months when we visited, but the parking lots were full, and we were told the hospital was at 93 percent capacity.
