JANESVILLE, Wisconsin—Join local female musical artists for an afternoon of free music, family fun and raffles for Wires & Wood Women of Music event at Countryview Bar, Milton, on May 5, 1-5 pm. All raffle and tip proceeds benefit the House of Mercy Homeless Center in Janesville.
Local musician, Bree Morgan, created Wires & Wood after recognizing how difficult it was for women in music to succeed. Not many female artists in country music had made it to the top of radio play billboard charts in months, she decided it was time to bring light to talented female artists, specifically the ones right in Wisconsin. With the help of Emily Knutson, Wires & Wood was born.
The House of Mercy is a 25-bed homeless center that provides homeless families with short-term emergency shelter and access to housing, job placement and child care resources. Since opening in 1996, the Center has provided shelter and support to over 6,300 individuals, half of whom were children. Almost every day, the Center’s 25-bed capacity is filled—but with the generous support of our community, the doors to the House of Mercy will continue to remain open, helping those in need. The donations received from our donors, community members and business corporations help the House of Mercy Homeless Center address the root causes of homelessness in our area.
