ROCKFORD, Illinois—Mercyhealth is pleased to welcome Prasad Kilaru, MD, FSCAI, FACC, to the physician staff of the Mercyhealth Heart and Vascular Center–Riverside, 8201 E. Riverside Blvd., Rockford.
His special interests include interventional cardiology procedures, including angioplasties, stents, and angiograms of the heart and peripheral arteries; managing hyperlipidemias; and managing congestive heart failure.
Dr. Kilaru offers exceptional care in close collaboration with his patients. “My philosophy of care is patient centric, which means focusing on patient safety and outcomes. I like to discuss with my patients their diagnosis and available treatment options, then help them make decisions in a shared decision-making environment. After earning his medical degree at Rangaraya Medical College of Andhra University, Kakinada, AP, India, Dr. Kilaru attended Cook County Hospital, Chicago, to complete his Internal Medicine residency, his Endocrinology residency, an Endocrinology fellowship, and a Cardiology fellowship. He also completed an Interventional Cardiology fellowship at Baystate Medical Center-Tufts University, Springfield, MA.
Dr. Kilaru is a Fellow of the Society of Cardiovascular Angiography and Interventions (FSCAI) and a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology (FACC). He is also an Assistant Professor of Medicine at the University of Illinois College of Medicine, Rockford. Dr. Kilaru is certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine with added certification in Cardiovascular Disease, Interventional Cardiology, and Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism.
