ROCKFORD, Illinois — Mercyhealth is pleased to announce Kathryn Pearce, Patient Experience Officer at the Rockton Avenue Campus, won the Rockford Chamber of Commerce’s Woman Manager of the Year award. Pearce was announced the winner at the Women in Business Expo & Luncheon on Thursday, June 21, at Cliffbreakers Riverside Hotel and Conference Center.
“What an honor it is to be recognized as the Woman Manager of the Year,” said Pearce.
The Chamber of Commerce presents this award annually to recognize an outstanding woman manager for her professional achievements, personal and community involvement, future goals and leadership.
Over the past 18 years, Kathryn has held the titles of Clinical Ethics Consultant, Patient Experience Officer and Manager of Interpreter Services. As a manger, Kathryn impacts health care by going over best practices with employee/partners at Mercyhealth. With interpreter services, she looks at ways to best serve patients and families who are limited in their English proficiency.
“You never know whose life you’re going to touch,” said Pearce. “I see health care as we’re stepping into someone’s life story. And what do we want to be remembered by, a caring, positive influence or not so? We have a passion for making lives better at Mercyhealth. It requires us to be intentional all the time.”
Pearce has been very involved in Transform Rockford. She was the co-lead for Leadership and Youth when the initiative started in 2014. For three years, she and others identified the strategic plan that would have the best impact on leadership and youth in the community. Once that project hit the implementation stage, Kathryn handed it off and became the Project Manager for 815 Choose Civility. She’s been a part of that group for two years. It’s where a lot of her energy is spent these days. Her focus is developing youth by teaching them to create civility within themselves.
