LAKE GENEVA, Wisconsin—Mercyhealth Hospital and Medical Center–Walworth earned The Joint Commission’s Gold Seal of Approval® Certification for Total Hip and Total Knee Replacement. The Gold Seal of Approval is a symbol of quality that reflects our organization’s commitment to providing safe and effective patient care.
At its on-site reviews, Joint Commission experts evaluated Mercyhealth’s compliance with national disease-specific care standards as well as with total hip and total knee replacement-specific requirements. Clinical practice guidelines and performance measures also were assessed. Areas of focus for Joint Commission certification include:
- Reducing the length of stay after surgery to decrease the risk of infection, pain and other complications.
- Advanced pain management options to make the recovery process as comfortable as possible.
- Helping patients get up and move soon after surgery to further reduce complications.
