JANESVILLE, Wisconsin – Mercyhealth Cardiac Rehabilitation Center, 1010 N. Washington St., Janesville, received cardiac rehabilitation re-certification by the American Association of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation (AACVPR). This certification recognizes Mercyhealth’s commitment to improving the quality of life of patients by enhancing standards of care. Mercyhealth Cardiac Rehabilitation Center was first certified in 2002.
Cardiovascular rehabilitation centers are designed to help people with heart and vascular problems recover faster and improve their quality of life. Mercyhealth’s programs include not only exercise but education, counseling and support for patients and families.
To earn accreditation, Mercyhealth participated in an application process that required extensive documentation of our practices. Mercyhealth’s Cardiovascular Rehabilitation Center developed policies and procedures with AACVPR’s benchmarks, including six areas of risk: blood pressure, LDL cholesterol, hemoglobin A1C, functional capacity and smoking cessation and depression. Once patients successfully hit the benchmarks in these areas, they are discharged.
The certification is valid for three consecutive years. AACVPR-certified programs are recognized as leaders in the field of cardiovascular and pulmonary rehabilitation because they offer the most advanced practices available.
