Human trafficking is on the rise in Wisconsin. To help fight human trafficking in Rock County, Mercyhealth’s emergency medicine staff and its Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner (SANE) program teamed up with local agencies and formed the Rock County Anti-Human Trafficking Task Force. The team is made up of Rock County organizations including Community Action, local law enforcement, human services, local teachers and advocates. Together, they’ve trained over 1,300 professionals to recognize what human trafficking looks like and to be ready to help. For episode 11, Jamie Counsell, SANE/ER nurse at Mercyhealth helps explain the warning signs and the important work being done right here at Mercyhealth to fight human trafficking trauma.
