Dr. Whitehead was part of worldwide clinical and epidemiological studies of macular degeneration and diabetic retinopathy for a 10-year period before entering medical school. He has co-authored numerous scientific publications, including a major review article on the role of supplements in macular degeneration.
Dr. Whitehead has particular interest on the potential for stem-cell therapy for degenerative and inherited retinal disease.
