You’ve been told you have diabetes. It sounds scary, but did you know over 29 million Americans have diabetes? That’s over 8% of the population! You are not alone, and you can still live a healthy and active lifestyle. Next, get a referral from your doctor to see a Mercyhealth diabetes educator. Educators are nurses and dietitians certified in diabetes education to help you understand what you need to know and to support you in any way they can. Diabetes education is done over a few months, with annual follow up.
