The Mercyhealth Auxiliary Thrift Shop–Rockford grew from Rockford Memorial Hospital Auxiliary’s Big Top Rummage Sale, which began with attic sales in 1923 and grew to be the “World’s Largest” rummage sale in 1975 according to the Guinness Book of World Records. In 1989, we expanded into a year-round thrift shop and this current facility opened in 1993.
The 3,900-square-foot shop provides a great shopping experience in a bright, colorful sales floor and private dressing rooms.
You will find small furniture pieces, antiques and collectibles, housewares, clothing, books, jewelry, linens, seasonal merchandise and much more. Donations are welcome anytime during open hours and are tax deductible.
Proceeds from the Auxiliary Thrift Shop on the Mercyhealth Rockton Campus benefit a variety of programs at Mercyhealth Javon Bea Hospital, including:
- The Ronald McDonald Care Mobile, a pediatric clinic on wheels that delivers free medical and dental care to uninsured children in our region
- Medical equipment for many hospital units
- Patient comfort items
