At the Mercy Harvard Care Center, our compassionate rehabilitation staff focuses on easing our patients’ transition from the hospital to the comfort of their home or other living arrangements. We do that through our effective short- and long-term rehabilitation programs. In fact, our rehabilitation success rates approach 100%!
Our inpatient rehabilitation programs are otherwise known as sub-acute care. This phase of care follows hospitalization due to a debilitating illness, major surgery or traumatic injury. Health problems like stroke, congestive heart failure, lung disease, joint replacements, hip fractures can affect the entire body. Recovering from these problems require a whole-person approach from Mercy’s qualified rehabilitation experts specializing in pain management, wound care, physical therapy, occupational therapy and speech therapy.
Our patient-centered programs are completely centered on you and helping you overcome your challenges. Our staff uses state-of-the-art therapies to help you:
- Increase your strength, flexibility and range of motion
- Climb stairs, walk, sit and get in and out of bed
- Improve communication skills
- Maximize your stamina and endurance
- Improve swallowing and eating skills
- Restore or improve other functions as needed

Our rehabilitation patients have great peace of mind due to their quick, down-the-hall access to Mercy Harvard Hospital’s resources and health care professionals when the need arises. These include:

- Highly trained nursing staff
- Diagnostic testing: laboratory, x-ray, MRI, CT scans, ultrasound and sleep studies
- Social workers and case managers
- Doctors specializing in neurology, heart and lung care, podiatry, eye care, vascular surgery, orthopaedic surgery, and ear, nose and throat care
Comprehensive amenities and services
Large resident rooms — Furnished specifically for our patients’ safety, healing and comfort with phone service, cable TV and available DVD players.
Dining — Residents can choose delicious meals and snacks from their Room Service menu or join others at our popular buffet.
Social activities – Attend religious services, celebrations, restaurant outings and have fun with our Wii game system. We also have a large room for private family gatherings and a private resource room with Internet access.
Transportation – Transportation is available to and from medical appointments.
Our other services
Short-term respite care
This service provides needed relief for family caregivers who must tend to personal needs, while knowing their loved one is safe and well cared for. We offer respite care from 24 hours to several days.
Long-term skilled nursing care
Our residents receive excellent care with personal attention to their needs. Our peaceful home-like environment, access to full hospital and rehabilitation services, and a high staff-to-resident ratio contribute to our reputation of providing high-quality care.
Payment and admission information
We accept Medicare, Medicaid, insurance and private pay. Our case managers oversee our residents’ Medicare and insurance concerns to assure maximum benefits.
