Treatments for Psoriasis
There is no cure. The goal is to manage symptoms. The treatments used will depend on:
- Psoriasis type
- The symptoms a person has
- How severe the disease is
- How many areas of the body it affects
Treatment usually starts with medicine applied to the skin. If this is not helpful, then light therapy is used. People who are not helped by these methods may be given oral medicine.
The body can get used to some treatments and they become less helpful. Changes may need to be made over time.
