Treatments for Hypertension

The goal of treating hypertension is to lower and keep your blood pressure (BP) within a certain range. Keeping your BP in this range will help to lower the risk of blood vessel damage. This will also lower the risk of:
There is more than one method to treat hypertension. You will need to make some changes in your daily life. This includes taking medicines, eating better foods, and getting exercise. If you have other health problems that make your blood pressure high, they will need to be treated as well.
Treatment may need to be adjusted throughout your lifetime. Stay in touch with your healthcare team, stick to your treatment plan, and go to any scheduled appointments.
