Our fellowship program is an innovative program associated with the community-based Mercyhealth located in Janesville, WI. Janesville is a small city with a very strong sense of community and pride, and has many cultural and recreational resources. Janesville is known as Wisconsin’s Park City, and is located within a short drive to Madison, Milwaukee and Chicago.
Our sports medicine fellowship is a one-year, ACGME-accredited fellowship. We can accept resident physicians who have or will have completed residency training in family medicine, physical medicine and rehabilitation (PM&R), pediatrics or emergency medicine.
Our fellows receive exposure to a wide variety of sports medicine opportunities, including but not limited to: Team physician responsibilities, game coverages, concussion management and community education, development and implementation of medical coverage for mass participation events. The sports medicine team at Mercyhealth helps provide coverages for local area high schools, University of Wisconsin-Whitewater, Beloit College and the Janesville Jets, a professional minor league hockey team.
Fellows complete a diverse curriculum involving multiple specialties. This experience will help the fellow develop and master a well-rounded, multi-faceted approach to the diagnosis and treatment of the sports medicine patient.
